Refrigerators, freezers, mini-fridges, wine coolers and air conditioners. Most electronics recyclers can't accept anything with refrigerant in it. We're set up for it.
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners contain refrigerant, and refrigerant has to be recovered by someone certified to handle it before the unit can be scrapped. That's a licensing and equipment question, not a preference — a recycler who isn't set up for it legally cannot take your fridge.
Which is why people turn up somewhere with an old freezer in the truck, get turned away, and go home to start searching again.
You can bring it here. Certified disposal is included in the price — there's no separate evacuation fee bolted on at the counter.
